Care in the home country

If your employee returns temporarily to their home country and their Dutch health insurance continues, you can apply for convention form S1/E106 to cover this temporary stay. This form entitles your employee to the medical care covered by statutory health insurance in their home country, from a simple visit to a GP to emergency assistance. The reimbursement in the home country will cover the care provided according to Dutch standards.

Care abroad (not in the home country)

If your employee goes on holiday to a country that is not their home country, they will need to use their EHIC health insurance card. This entitles your employee to reimbursement of emergency care according to the ZEM Polis conditions.
